Scarface, Nas, and Ice Cube: Supergroup

October 9, 2008

This is probably the only new Hip-Hop album that would be worth the money spent on it. The mastery, range, and experience that would be involved in the making would be like none ever seen before it.:

Rapper Ice Cube has welcomed plans laid out by retiring hip-hop star Scarface to create a new supergroup with himself and Nas. The Houston, Texas star recently revealed he would be quitting rap after the release of his next album Emeritus, and he’d only consider a return to the studio if Ice Cube and Nas were to join him. And the former N.W.A. star admits he’d be willing to give the rap supergroup idea a go.

“I wouldn’t even think twice about doing that— hell yeah! I think the album would be crazy, lyrics would be sick, and hip-hop would love it. It’s just making that business happen, that’s the part that gets funky. I ain’t never turned down these kind of projects, they just don’t happen for whatever reasons. But I’m up for some s–t like this because I know we can make a dope record.”

This is legendary, and the idea is a first. Can you imagine the Black History lesson on this album? We enjoy seeing grown rappers get together for business, especially at a craft they have all mastered so tirelessly. Scarface retiring is marking a time in history in itself.

All coast unite!

Lil John: “Yeah, I Did Brit!”

October 3, 2008

Lil John, the legendary music mogul, felt obligated to offer his insight on Spearing Brit…we mean Britney Spears:

Lil Jon produced several tracks on Spears’ upcoming LP Circus, and the hip-hop star is convinced the singer is back to her best and her comeback is going to be an international hit. “It’s going to be a big album. Britney is very intelligent and she’s really set up (for success). She is focused and she wants it again, so it’s definitely going to happen for her. Her stuff is all about making people party.”  He adds, “A lot of people count her out, but she’s been able to bounce back from adversity. She’s back looking, if not as good as before, even better.” Wenn

We bet John got that check in advance from them White Folks. The Spears camp must not have checked hip hop lately, crunk is dead, John is clucking off his ice as we type.

According to Livesteez, Big Boi has a venture in the works with Coca-Cola:

Grammy Award winning Outkast group member Big Boi has been tapped as the new face of Coca-Cola’s “Full Throttle Fury” Energy Drink. With Big Boi as a new spokesman, the company is also relaunching Full Throttle Fury with a completely new look and experience, in an attempt to attract the lucrative African-American male demographic. “My new album Sir Luscious Left Foot embodies the energy of “Full Throttle Fury,” where I feel like the body of work I’ve created on this CD will hopefully motivate my fans even more with its high energy and conscious lyrics as I’ve always created in my music,” Big Boi added.

Big Boi’s ex band mate 3 Stacks, has a clothing line that just hit in Europe, and both of them have solo ventures due soon. Nobody can get mad at money making tactics. Do ya thang.

Andre 3000 Clothing Line:Benjamin Bixby

Three Stacks clothing line, Benjamin Bixby, is due soon…

For those who fancy some haberdashery from Andre 3000’s new fashion line, you’ll have to either wait for some pieces to trickle down to eBay, or make reservations to fly across the pond.  The Guardian is reporting that the Outkast rapper, born Andre Benjamin, is selling his new Benjamin Bixby line of classic menswear exclusively at Harrods in London. As previously reported, the line features 1930s baseball-inspired clothing, including tweeds, plus fours, pleat-fronted trousers, cardigans with bold lettering, flat caps and braces. The rap star says he sketched the entire line himself and has visited Italian clothing factories and textile fairs in Paris for inspiration. He also loves shopping at Hackett on London’s Sloane Street, as well as Portobello market for vintage corduroys and brogues

The article explains how Andre knows how much in shambles our economy is in, so he went to Europe where the money is still good. The clothes remind us of Ralph Lauren. Some of it really looks clean, and some of the garments look like someone named “Amos” should be wearing them.

We we have some promotional garments below…

Beanie and Freeway Are Back

September 30, 2008

Looks like Beanie and Freeway have been doing the State Property thing…

“It’s a beautiful thing,” Freeway said, as he passed on the endless plates of food from Italian restaurant Macelleria in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District. Free and Sigel were fasting due to Ramadan, but most of the State Property crew (save for Oschino and Neef Buck, whom everybody insisted were still down despite their absences) were eating lunch before a late-night performance at S.O.B.’s. The collective has been together making music for the past several months but has only now decided to come up to the surface and speak about it. Here they are again, world. “We all been doing this together for a minute,” Free said, as he watched Peedi Crakk devour some fries. “When we get together, we make good music. It’s strength in numbers. We gonna put something on the streets for y’all real soon.”

We think it is good to see some life after the Roc. In the Video on MTV. com, Beans really does look like he has some sense and his business hat on. They even have Young Chris and Peedie in on the project.
